Hi! I’m Stephanie Di Maria (she/her)
I’m a Calgary-based therapist, parent, and former educator who believes in showing up as a real human first. I’m so glad you’re here. My work is all about helping adults, parents, kids, and teens navigate anxiety, ADHD, trauma, burnout, and the big transitions that shape who we become. I offer a grounded, compassionate space where you don’t have to have it all figured out — you just have to be yourself.

My Journey
My path to becoming a therapist wasn’t linear — it was human. I started my career in education and child and youth care, spending years working with young people and families. I loved it deeply… and I also burned out. Like many of the people I now support, I found myself stuck between exhaustion, self-doubt, and a longing for something more aligned with who I was becoming.
Stepping into counselling felt like coming home. I returned to school, completed a Master of Counselling, and discovered a way of working that brings together everything I care about: emotional regulation, trauma healing, attachment, child development, and the messy, beautiful reality of being human. My background as a teacher, my lived experience as a parent, and my training as a therapist all blend into how I show up in the room.

My Approach
My approach is warm, collaborative, and deeply grounded in how the nervous system works. I blend evidence-based tools with attunement, curiosity, and real conversations about what it means to be you. You won’t get jargon or judgment — you’ll get someone sitting beside you, helping you build clarity, resilience, and practical strategies that fit your life.
I work in a neurodivergent-affirming and trauma-informed way, integrating elements of CBT, attachment theory, narrative therapy, parts work, and nervous-system regulation. I am currently completing training in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing) and am accepting clients interested in EMDR-informed therapy, when it feels appropriate and aligned with their goals. EMDR can be helpful when stress, memories, or emotional reactions feel hard to shift through talk therapy alone.
Every session is adapted to you. You lead, I hold the flashlight.

Why this work matters to me
This work matters to me because I’ve lived the edges of burnout, overwhelm, self-doubt, and the pressure to keep showing up. I’ve also lived the healing that comes when someone sits with you — not to fix you, but to help you understand yourself more deeply.
I care about helping people feel less alone, experience regulation in their bodies, build secure relationships, and reconnect with their own strengths. And I care about supporting parents and kids through the big emotions, developmental moments, and identity shifts that shape their lives.
Therapy is not about perfection. It’s about truth, presence, and building a life that feels like yours.
